Spondyloarthropathies (SpA)

SpA comprise one of the most common of the inflammatory arthritidies in Europe, and consist of a spectrum of inflammatory diseases that affect primarily the peripheral joints and spine but can also involve other tissues like skin, gut and eyes. Pathogenesis of SpA is imperfectly understood. Current treatments and assessment tools that we have to aid therapeutics have improved markedly in recent years, but for a significant number of patients they remain inadequate. FOREUM Foundation for Research in Rheumatology recognises the growing burden of SpA and the substantial unmet therapeutic need in this area. FOREUM has therefore initiated this call, prepared after consultation across a broad group of experts and other stakeholders.
